Ed, I traded my '96 Suburban/ 6.5 L in for a Duramax Crew Cab-the 6.5L was literally a lemon: 5 fuel injection pumps in 5 years. However, we (and I say "we" because I want my wife to go along when we pull our 30' trailer) are very, very satisfied, if not overwhelmed, by the performance of the Duramax/Allison tx. Checking with the GM service engineers before buying our Duramax verified that there ARE NOT HEAD problems with the Duramax. The only problem they've found so far is a flywheel problem on a few of them. That's not surprising knowing the quality of American made autos. This problem shows up in the first 1,000 miles or so and if you don't hear a "clacking" sound you're o.k. After my experience with the 6.5L I have been very cautious but, so far, have been very pleased. And, we don't have to walk 30 feet away from the truck to have a conversation! On the side, if Mercedes imported a full-size diesel in competition with any of these trucks, I would buy it in a heartbeat! One man's opinion.

I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
