: : : I'm looking to buy a small (<20HP) garden tractor w/PTO to use primarily to mow less than 1/2 acre, blow snow off a large driveway, light hauling, and perhaps do some tilling. I'm avoiding the newer "Craftsman/MTD/NOMA lawn tractors" and am looking for an older, more heavy duty one. I am looking at primarily Cub Cadets, Bolens, WheelHorse, Simplicity, Gravely and John Deeres. Availability of parts and attachments, in addition to the performance of the tractor is a big factor in the decision. : : Any advice on specific ones to look for or to avoid? : : Any recommendation : Well, one more can't hurt. I've owned (and used hard) a JD 140 for the last 26 years. Rebuilt the engine once and the mower deck once. Has a Kohler 14hp, but no PTO. Also have a Kubota 175DT, great little tractor, deisel, 4-wd. Reliable, hard working, fun. Would reccomend either to anyone. Pick the one that best suites your needs. I had a Power King tractor 1976 w/ hyd and that was one nice easy tractor to handle and work on,Just about any automoblie store had the part or you could make your own. The mower deck was will built the snowblower never quit, and the load it would haul with a trailer was unbeleiveable check one out.
