I don't know that people don't supervise less today. They do take legal action at any opportunity now more than ever. I toddled around in the 60's, and I remember my parents taking notice only duing curtling screams. I'm sure I've been nailed across the fore head with a all metal 4020. My dad was upset we misstreated the toy. This is why myself and my brother still have a collection of 60's vintage JD toys that I see in antique malls fetching a small fortune.
