After two weeks of discussion the answer is so simple. When I posted the orginal post on Nov. 23 I gave two examples, I did not say they were exclusively the very best. The simple answer is, you take the two highest production tractors ever, the Ford 8N and Farmall H, blend them and you come up with the best tractors ever. In plain English when they put Harry Ferguson's system on North American built row crop tractors, the industry hit it right on. There was no use trying to put 3 point hitch on that row crop either with the operator sitting directly over the drawbar. IH tried to flog Fast Hitch for 10 years. Harry had won the war before IH sold the first Fast Hitch. Try and convince anyone that ever worked six cylinder tractors that John Deere didnt stay with the 2 bangers too long. The list of mistakes is long, but as my late father used to say, "The man who made no mistakes didn't do much".
