Good for you, at least someone is designing things to be repairable! As I'm seeing now in engineering school (yes, i'm one of those 'college boys'), electronics can do wonderful things. The big problem now is deciding just what they need to do. I looked at the new 8020 series Deeres, and it seems to me that they do 200 times more than they need to. But the buyer seems to want it, because they keep making them. I guess my only point is, that when the 55 series came out with an onboard computer (in the dash), people thought that was overly complicated. When you look at it now, it's pretty simple. There isn't one farmer in 1000 that even knows how the circuits and logic works (no offense, i barely know!), but there shouldn't be anyone who can't pop in a new dash unit on those tractors. Just like replacing the amp guage on my 60, but easier. No matter how complicated they make these beasts, there will always be people who figure them out and play with them. You've gotta admit, 50 years ago if you told a farmer you could completely seed 100 acres in less than 25 hours (6 row no-till planter and sprayer), they'd haul you off to the loonie bin! As long as we are being driven by efficiency, we'll keep complicating things! Ah, but how I'd love to head out onto the home 100 acres with a JD 60 and a 3 bottom plow on a crisp november day.......
