Found a case 7130 couple hours away from me for sale. The guy said he doesn’t really want to sell it but if he gets the right price he will let it go. I’m not really familiar with case tractors but I do know the cummins engine fairly well. The tractor has around 7000 “original hours” according to the owner. He said he’s the second owner and that the tractor came out of the rice fields about 10 years ago and that was around 5k hours. He told me he’s thinking the hour meter is accurate. He said all he’s used it for was pulling a 8 yard scraper and is down sizing due to age is the reason for selling. I haven’t seen the tractor in person yet only pictures. Outside looks rough paint faded extra. He’s asking 30k for the tractor and scraper so what are some things I should look out for before buying And is that a fair price. I did talk to him over the phone and he said everything works as it should a/c hydraulics transmission etc. down side is Nearest case dealer is about an hour away from me. I don’t plan on working the tractor many hours a year maybe 100 hours mostly be used for pulling a 20’ disc and 5 bottom plow. My main concern is the transmission. I don’t want the have to put 20k into it right after I buy it.

This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
