Can't get temp. sender out of Ford 801 tractor...

I have a Ford 801 tractor. I'm putting in a new temperature gauge due to old one was broke. The trouble is I can't get the sender out of the block. Is there an easier way to do this? I have tried vice grips and pipe pliers but it still doesn't move. The owner before rounded the hex head off too much to use a six point socket on it. Any help is surely apprieciated. Thank you for any help. Herb
