You'd think that, wouldn't you? Best price around here is from the few yards that stock Canadian (subsidized) lumber. I've got a little ethical problem with that, and buy from a Mom and Pop.

I built a 20x32 two story barn with an 10x26 shed ell this summer, and I've got right at $8000 in it with no concrete (dirt floor) no doors and two recycled windows. Did splurge a little on a metal roof.

Did it all myself, with SIL helping on some of the heavy stuff like setting rafters and floor joists. No way I could afford to pay a crew.
