Char-Lynn Hydraulic system

I was at an auction last week and saw a Char-Lynn hydraulic system. This was apparently made for tractors without hydraulics or was an auxiliary unit for loaders, etc. The system attached to the tractor PTO, had a small tank for hydraulic fluid, a long handle, and 2 or 3 outlet valves. Does anyone know anything about these systems? Do they work, what kind of problems might you have with these things and are parts available? Thanks
