Help me confirm please...After months of searching for a tractor on a tight budget I found what I thought as advertised (1968 Ford 4000).
Well it was one of those deals that if I didn t act first then I would have missed out. I have 14 acres so 45hp, front end loader, box blade and a finish mower all for $5K was exactly what I wanted to wind up with. So I took her home the next morning, and started looking for parts by model #...that s when the mystery started....
She looked great cold cranked easily went through the gears, good clutch, PTO Loader ...worked as expected. The steering links and tie rods worn and need replacing. Well first thing the thing was too wide for my trailer when I arrived to look/buy. I had looked at some specs but just generally.
Well when I started looking up serial numbers and such I Think it s a 1988/9 4610! Model: DY354C. Serial: *BB6710_* Engine 126827 8E3. Power steering has 1 pitman arm on left side.
When I look at parts manuals they show one on left & right sides

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
