While the 6V starter and the other item you mentioned might be fine, there are other things that have to be kicked-down to 6V for a road vehicle. Original radios, wiper motors, heater motors, horn, fuel-gauge senders, electrical gauges (if any), etc. all have to operate on 6V so you'd have to get a resistor in those circuits. Also, you could go to 12 V lighting but it would have to be tapped into the 12V wiring and not any of the old 6V circuits that I mentioned above.
