I lived outside Duluth for half a dozen years. Our gas MH50 would start faithfully with 5W-30 in the crankcase and a large decent battery. We did keep it out of the wind but lots of times it had sat for days before we fired up. For a diesel I would think that freeze plug heaters would be what you want. Also, Jeg's and Summit Racing sell stick on heater pads that you could glue to oil pan. I think they come bigger than 200 watts, or use a couple of them. Having the oil warmed a little in a diesel is not a bad thing. I have a battery warming pad on our gas F250 down here in Ohio, and when it gets down to zero it makes a noticeable difference in how quick the starter spins the engine over.
