The reason the used Tacoma prices are so high is they are such good trucks. In that size, I wouldn't buy anything else. Buy new. They don't make a regular cab anymore. Either extended cab or double cab. SR is the work truck version and comes without those useless little rear seats. 4 cyl 2.7L engine is bulletproof. Grease zerks on U joints. Easy to do oil changes. If the 2.7L engine isn't big enough for you, they also make a V6. V6 only in the double cab version. I've owned three of them over a 20 year period, all regular cabs with the 2.7 engine. Still have the last one and the two previous ones are still on the road. For my newest work truck I bought a new Tundra SR. Paid $28,300 for that one. 80k runs like a swiss watch. I got the work truck package which deletes the remote door locks, replaces fabric seats with HD vinyl and has rubber covered floor and floor mats. I prefer that for farm use.
