Ford 600 Alternator wiring

I have a Ford 600 that has been converted to 12 volts. The battery kept going down and I discovered the alternator was not connected. I am told it is a GM alternator with an internal voltage regulator. It has 3 wires coming out. Can anyone tell me how to connect to the ampmeter??
