I've had a M&W (rebranded Sitrex) folding 4 basket tedder for over 20 years, it's been a good machine but is not without it quirks. If the adjusting crank is well greased it will crank itself down digging the tines into the dirt in a rough field, also needs to be parked folded out or it could flip over backwards, I wouldn't recommend one for the elderly or inexperienced youngster.
I've been looking at new tedders to replace mine and consider the top three to be Krone KW 5.52/4x7T, Kuhn GF5202THA and Claas Volto 52T or 55TH.
Krone is the heaviest built and most featured of the 3, 18'1" working width is one foot wider than the other two, has 7 tines per rotor, wheels can be angled to throw hay away from the fence line, weighs 1499 lbs but can be used behind a 25 hp tractor.
Kuhn has 17'1" working width, 7 tines per rotor, is lighter at 1170 lbs, the GF5002THA trailed unit I like does not have the angle feature.
Neighbor has a Claas Volto 52T that I've ran, nice machine, 17'1" working width, only 6 tines per rotor, no info on it's weight but looks to be a well built machine.
All 3 of the ones listed have automatic level feature, when you fold it up it automatically levels the tines for transport, when folded out it tiles the tines down to a preset angle, when crossing a small drain in a field one can bump the hydraulic remote and level the tines, then bump the remote the other way angling the tines back into work position.
This is a feature that WILL be on my next tedder purchase, I can set it at the proper angle and don't have to worry about whoever's driving the tractor getting it set right.

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
