Yep a ton of work goes into setting up a consignment sale . I went to my fair share of them . seen them come and go . I was at Ted Everett 's first sale when he walked up to my buddy and i at a sale and asked us to come the next day , Meet Dick Green out a Fletcher when he came up to Donnie and i and ask us to come the next day and if we had anything that we would like to consign in My buddy and i had the first #'s issued at several sales . We covered Ohio in. and eastern half of Il. You could either leave Sunday afternoon and not get back home till late Saturday night in the spring and fal and hit sales every day . Motels could count on seeing us on a given day of the week and always seemed to have our room ready as once we found a Motel we liked that is where we stayed . Only sale i did not really care to got to was over by Chambersburgh Pa. BUT that was a good place to sell . Made for a vary long day when you spent a full day at Stylesville buying then loading a semi and pull out and jump on I 70 and set sale for Chambersburgh . Might not have been so bad but Hauling a full load of iron on a fifty foot step deck with a Pony up ft. and not a horse was ok in the flat land but once east of Columbus your forward ground speed went into the basement and between wearing out your right arm shifting and wearing out the flashers on the hill it was 4 in the morning when ya pulled in the sales lot and got two hours of sleep before someone was banging on the door to start unloading you . spend the day working that sale then gather up any treasure ya found load up and try and beat the D C crowd west bound on the pike home . Made a ton of friends over the years.
