The wire from the BAT post on back of the alternator should be jumped to terminal #2.
The main BAT post is connected to the amp meter. One side of the amp meter goes directly to the battery, usually connected to the starter switch. Everything else (including the alternator) goes on the other amp meter post.
There is a missing wire. It may have fallen off, so look for it possibly hanging in the vicinity.
If not, it needs another wire run from the ignition side of the ignition switch, seriesed through a small indicator type incandescent lamp, connected to terminal #1. You will need a 2 wire socket, not a grounded base socket.
If there is not a harness plug on the alternator, it needs one to keep the wires in place and on the correct terminals. The plug with pigtails can be bought at any auto supply.
