Discussion came up recently on a social media site where I'd posted a photo of my grandfather's old metal grain scoop. Its what they used to load grain on the wagons in the days before grain augers. Some talked of bushel scoops. Some of half bushel. I had to find out so tried it out on my own grain and weighed it with my grandfather's antique beam scale. It holds considerable less than a bushel.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
