I mow with a 47" deck on an old 10 hp JD 112. It always mows though I some times clog it if I've not mowed often enough and have let the grass go to seed. Downed tree limbs up to an inch I just chop with the mower. Sharp blades help. If I'm only lowering the grass 3 or 4 inches I can mow as fast as the deck will ride without bouncing too bad. Gerald
