Hi, I am new here and not sure if this is the right place to post tractor problems so apoliges if it is not. I have a 1954 Fordson major diesel and have a fuel problem in that while working in a darkened shed I mistakenly topped up the fuel tank with petrol. The tractor had run perfectly ok up to this point and continued to do so for 20 minutes or so until the fuel mix reached the cylinders when the motor stalled. I realised my mistake and emptied the fuel tank (fuel cock fully open),both cannisters and the injector pump. Then refilled the system with clean diesel. The motor started ok but revved uncontrollably and backfired occasionally. The only way I could find to control the revs was to starve the motor using the "shut off" leaver at the rear of the Simms injector pump. I ran the motor for half an hour or so controlling the revs in this manner in an effort to remove all traces of petrol. However it still revs uncontrollably and the throttle leaver has littel or no effect even when raised to the vertical position which used to stall the motor. I don't like to disassemble the injector fuel pump for fear of upsetting the settings. I have checked the butterfly valve on the intake from the air cleaner and this seems to be closing ok. Can anyone please tell me my best course of action? Cheers, JRG1.

The golden corn ripens well and early, the stoking, stacking,.... the drawing in with the tractors and trailers and a few buck rakes thrown in, and possibly a heavy horse. It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
