Any modern oil worth its weight, comes with a very high base additive in that will neutralize acids for up to 10,000 miles or more. So acids are no longer a problem as the oil is designed to handle them.
New engines keep the oils extremely clean for much longer. Only reason to change the oil that often is to make the oil change guys rich...
Yes modern engines require a better oil.. but better oil is sold everywhere. If you buy the oil the meets or exceeds the manufacturers specs, your good for an easy 7500 miles. Mobil one says you can go much further than that.
I would recommend the better thing to do is to start up the engine and run it up to normal temp periodically as a far far better thing to do if you dont drive it often. Trying to drive it down to the store once a month is far better than changing the oil every day.
Yeah, I know a salesman who has never read the owners manual, and didnt make it out of high school,, told you the factory engineers dont know squat.
