I will add that at least in IL you can not drive a hazmat truck to take the hazmat test. We seem to hire one new driver a year, and we have to strip s truck down for their road test. WE have one tanker in town,the DMV wants it empty and all placards removed. To do that it would cost hundreds of dollars to evacuate the tank and have it certified clean.(the tank truck is a manual transmission,the rest of the fleet is automatics.)
