Hello might have a chance to buy my wife's grandfather's IH 444 we didn't think it was going to be available as we thought her uncle was going to keep it but he changed his mind so its available.
Her Granddad bought the 444 new. I think he traded a Farmall H for it and had traded a Farmall Super M TA in on the 686 they used to have. I have driven the 444 a time or 2 baleing hay and it seems like a really easy/nibble tractor to drive plus it is a family heirloom
I don't see alot of the 444's out there as it doesn't appear they've made very many so i'm trying to figure out what it might be worth.
more info 1, owner, good condition. tach is broke so the hours are unknown but are ALOT as he used it for everything. rear tires are good but i think 1 rim needs replaced. normally runs well but they've had trouble keeping it running due to gas issues i suspect mostly from sitting too much over the past few years. was 100% shed stored until recently when my wife's uncle has left it out some but still decent original paint. could stand to be rewired so the lights work. I don't know any maintenance history as they weren't mechanics or carpenters. it wasn't abused by any means but i'm sure oil changes weren't done as often as i would have probably done them.

This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
