Many times when driving around I have seen something I would like to buy. Sometimes for sale, many times something I could see sitting in the tall weeds, etc. If no phone numbers on sign and nobody home, or it looks like you should not cold call on the house, I make note of the address.
Then mail a postcard inquiry with my phone number or email address asking for price or if it might be for sale. I also add a note as to how I know what they might have for sale or just saw while driving by. And how I got the address info.
Otherwise they might get paranoid and not respond at all.
