I can see TSC, the hardware store, walmarts, the American Flag at the supermarket, the bank I use, a greet local restaurant I get take out from on fridays + more on this stretch of state road. I can get a hair cut, got to the bank and get groceries in an hour, literally. However, I live on the old farm property and it is zoned ag beyond the light commercial zone along the road. While the traffic is hard to even comprehend when you think back 40+ years, it's manageable. I can shoot a woodchuck out my back door if need be. Can walk 200 some odd yards to my deer stand and field I enjoy to look over. I'm 8 minutes from the city and or highway. My zip code is the same as the city. Head in other directions and I can be in rural areas. One good thing is the aquifer here, my well provides good water and as much as I would ever need in the driest of summers. In all, I could complain, live in the past remembering when this was rural too, but again, things could be a lot different and take a lot more time to do if all these places were not so close. I just heard that the horizon from this hill side will have another addition to the view, Harbor Freight ! Not like a buy a lot from there, but still.... The hardware store is a good one, so you can get better quality if you need it right next door. It seems all these places are where the sewer line provides service, it ends a 1/4 mile from my window, but if extended, land I own will increase in value quite a bit.
Jerry, interesting, we think alike in this regard, cool story about the errands and things on the shelf, I prefer to buy locally when possible, not worry about porch pirates. Heck, I do not like even leaving outgoing mail with a payment in the mail box, thieves like to steal the mail and get your check so they can rob you. Not that it has been a problem, but that is how it is today, have to use care.

Today's Featured Article - Product Review: Black Tire Paint - by Staff. I have been fortunate in that two of my tractors have had rear tires that were in great shape when I bought the tractor. My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed. Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
