I have installed a couple of dozen of these over the years,mostly in antique cars,but in a few tractors.What I was lectured about,(and didn't listen to at first),was before installing the electronic conversion make sure everything worked correctly with the points before changing.If there were other problems with the point system before,it will still have them after.Now,you do have your plug wires hooked to plugs right? That spark won't jump to the rotor if there is no ground in sight to jump to.Your remark about no spark to the bare rotor meaning it is good makes me think you already know about that.
