If that engine only runs good on 91 octane there is something else wrong,and the high test gas is masking it.That 1.6 Ford industrial is a sweet engine,and will run on anything.I work on one that has over 7000 hours on it,alcohol has had zero effect on it.When that owner started having symptoms like yours we found it was a combination of lots of things.Point gap was inconsistent,dist.bushings were worn.(that was the biggest problem) Manifold gaskets were leaking,and the carb needed a proper rebuild.Throttle shaft was bad,the carb body had to be rebushed.At one point one of the fuel lines had collapsed,and I replaced it,but it was over 30 years old when it happened.Luckily you have the Ford version.That one is pretty easy to work on.As far as the rest of the machine goes,the 700,720,and 722's have to be some of the most horrid machines to work on that Melroe built.
