The General was originally built by Cletrac with the intention that Massey-Harris would sell it. That lasted one year, so production was shifted to BF Avery, who also sold equipment through Montgomery Wards. In 1946 or 47, Minneapolis-Moline bought BF Avery. It is possible that Generals were sold through local co-ops, as well.
