Kind of funny, but just yesterday I drove into town and bought some cork gasket material, stuff comes in handy so I like to have it around. I had to make new gaskets for the Fergusen valve cover. It wasn't as thick as the original and I had to double it up for the crank case vent tube. All told I spent $10.06 for gasket material, about $4.00 gas, and $12.00 for my labor (3@$4.00hr.) so a grand total of $26.06. After I got done I decided to see how much I saved by making it myself. I looked it up on this site and the gaskets were the same cost as what I paid for the material. So even with $8.00 for shipping I would have been better off to just order them.
I don't mind spending a little extra to support the local guy, but geez, I can't afford to spend money like a drunken Rockefeller either.

It wasn't to relive memories of Grampa, Dad or myself out on the back 40 nursing the Farmall pulling too many b
