Strange house or school NW of Moran,KS taken in 2018...Its gone now? The Victory District 111 one room school NW of Uniontown,KS on old hwy 54. ..The owners wife had a short walk from the farm yard to the school..He went to the next school to the north..I took this pic in 2018. Today at 4:30 PM the Arvonia,Kansas community is celebrating the 150th anniversary of their school which was in operation from 1872 to 1949...It was once 2 stories tall.I took this picture April 1st....Its a Welsh community that once had 150 residents in the 1880's but the RR never made it there so it faded away..Its located north of Lebo in Osage County.
This is the huge Portland cement plant at Mildred,KS which was in operation off and on from 1909 to 1930...Site 2 at the sale is just a couple of miles SW of Mildred..In 1912 375 people worked there and the town had over 1000 residents...Today it has less than 40 people. In 2009 I took lots of pictures of the old cement plant..You can no longer get in there..Heres some large silos...After the plant closed I can remember it being used as a grain elevator in the 1970's.
Theres several acres of ruins there at the edge of Mildred...It was dynamited but some of it is still standing.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
