Dear Bob, If the battery, cables, solenoid and ground are indeed good, its likely the starter. Have you tried using jumper cables and connecting right direct to the starter bypassing the solenoid? If so and your ground cable is good and the battery is good, it must surely be the starter. They often just need new brushes and rebushed which isnt too expensive. If the bushings get too worn and the armature rubs the fields, it ruins the armature and gets more expensive. Only other simple thing to check is loosen the starter and retighten it (in its mounting) and cables to insure a good ground. PS You said ut has a solenoid, right, if just one of those mechanical push switches on the starter, they often get corroded which you can fix simply by removing and wire brushing.
