As described. A friend of mine from church bought a low hour (600+) 1979 1300 from his brother in law. It was very lightly used, loader work only, and the 3 point and PTO weren't used. The tractor sat outside.
Earlier this Spring, Johnny was tilling his garden; one minute the 3 point worked, the next it didn't. The loader (factory 770 set up) still functioned normal.
I ordered a new lift cylinder ring, and replaced it yesterday. The original was still intact, but it wasn't sealing well (you could feel that the seal was slightly smaller than the wall of the piston). While it was still together, it was super brittle and easy to remove. After reinstalling, the 3 point still didn't work (I wasn't surprised- I didn't expect that this would be the culprit. If it was, it would at least attempt to lift, but there was nothing. However, I did assume that it would need a new ring, regardless). I don't think that fluid is getting to the cylinder.
This is where I need the forum- from what I've read, it is common for the unload valve to stick. However, I'm not sure where it is located. I'm assuming that it is inside the top case- is that correct? I have found diagrams of other applications (larger Ford tractors, for instance), but I've located nothing on the 1300 or the 1500 (they are set up the same, correct?). Is the next step to remove the top of the 3 point and explore the upload valve? Or, could there we an issue with the hydraulic valve for the 3 point?
Johnny is on a fixed budget, and buying a $100+ WSM is a stretch for him. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but I also recognize my limits. I don't want to stab in the dark. My goal is to benefit from those who have direct or well founded experience. Thanks in advance! Any wisdom is an ingredient, and appreciated.

Today's Featured Article - When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
