Thought I'd check in before heading to bed. Although Smokey and the Bandit's on tv so I might have to hit the hay a little later than usual.
Back on topic: A while back front right brakes started smoking on my '99 F250 SD. Made it home ok, not a total meltdown but they got pretty hot.
Replaced the brake hose on that side, drove for another 200 miles or so. Then last weekend I went to pick up some steel for a project. A few miles from home the left front brakes started smoking. I should add everything is in good shape both sides. Plenty of pad left, rotors look good, calipers look as good as you'd expect on an old truck.
Replaced the brake hose on the left side. Haven't driven enough to say if the problem is fixed but I think both hoses failed at about the same time so I should be good until the next thing breaks.
Just letting you know in case this helps someone else with a similar problem. Looks like the movie is winding down, the Bandit is heading up to Boston for some clam chowder.
