I am no old timer / experienced plower but in the last 2 weeks it seems like I've learned a lifetime of plowing skill. I have a JD 520 with a backblade. I try to roll the snow to one side (going forward) from the middle and keep making passes until it it wide enough then start in the middle and roll it to the other side. This involves driving one of the back wheels almost right thru the bank you made last pass so it doesn't work with a lot of snow. That's when you have to start pushing backwards. I read on this page to adjust the blade so it is straight up and down (vertically) this seems to work pretty well pulling or pushing. As for the posi - mine only spins 1 wheel when it is stuck. I try pumping the spinning wheels brake a little. That will kick the power to the other wheel and help you get out. As for weight my wheels have calcium chloride in them. That seems to be enough. I have chains for it but have never tried them. Steering is mostly done by braking although it is usually necessary to brake and steer to get it to do what you want. It's mostly practice - something I am getting plenty of lately - take your time and be careful work can wait Tom
