Sam, coolant flow (movement) and air bubbles appearing are two seperate and distinct phenomena. If the tstat is open, the water pump causes coolant to flow and circulate. However, the presence of a lot of bubbles and overheating even when radiator and tstat and water pumps are all good, can be a leaky head gasket which is allowing hot gases to escape into the cooling system as compared to being contained in the cylinder and head and exhaust where it should. Head gasket leaks show up as loss of power, overheating, and an abundance of water or steam or white smoke out exhaust. Hope this helps you understand. John T in Indiana jmn50@msn.com
