I'm familiar in general with the Farmall H, and it would make you a fine tractor. I have a LOT of hours in the seat of a 1949 John Deere B, and it will also make a fine tractor for you. The only hesitation I might have is that if you are not used to a hand clutch, you need to get thoroughly familiar with it to the point that it is instinctive to pull the hand clutch instead of fumbling around for a non-existent foot clutch. I THINK the H might have a bit more power (don't recall the HP numbers for sure) but if you want a JD just to have a JD, the B would make a dandy tractor for you. It should have adequate power, and there is a ton of parts out there for 'em. I say, if you want the JD, go for it!
