I agree with all ideas and theories that al expressed. But i would like to add to one. Al said that ollies do better because of their ability to go faster at the start of the pull. I feel that this is not necessarily true. I feel that the main difference between a JD and any other tractor is the number of cylinders. Around here all pulls have mph limits. The JD's can go over the speed limit just as easy as anybody else. I think that the main disadvantage JD's hve to overcome is tireshake. By this I mean that the power coming from only two cylinders puts alot more come and go stress on the area where the tire is gripping the track(as opposed to a 4 or 6 cylinder tractor). I feel that this has the tendency to break the tires loose alot easier. This is really noticeable in the 4500lb class. In heavier classes like the 7500 and 8500 you really see the JD's do good. This i feel is because now they have enough weight on the tires to get the tires to quit shaking. Just my opinion, I have been wrong before.
