I think some of the replies have been wise here while others merely "beat the dangerous odds" and thus feel their replies are equally as thoughtful. I learned how to drive a tractor at the age of 7. At the age of 35 I am now a safety nut and a Senior Executive with a worldwide firm. I have a Masters degree and three children, two farms. You would think with all of the above I would not make some of the simple mistakes we all make when we are young. Wrong. As safety conscious as I am, I almost killed myself twice this year working with equipment. Do you think kids are any more cautious? Most of the replies here focus on good experiences kids had on tractors when they were kids. This is one sided though because the children who have had bad experinces aren't here to write about it (or don't have the fingers required). Unless there is an economic reason for the family to have kids working on equipment, the statistics say that young children and machinery don't mix. Buy your kid a bike, Pedal tractor, car models, erector sets, Legos, footballs, baseballs, basketballs, running shoes, carpentry tools, computers, books, CD's etc... Don't let him drive a tractor till he's a teenager. Otherwise you risk all that your son is and all he is ever going to be. Use smarter substitutes right now. Sincerely, Fargo
