Unsticking Piston with vinegar how long to leave in engine?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to unstick my tractor engine. This tractor was outside for a few years with an open exhaust stack. I have tried brake fluid and pressurizing with a grease gun. Valves leaked too much. Then I tried lighting oil in the cylinder on fire and alternatley hitting gently with a slege. No luck. I cleaned out the rust and junk with light abrasives and heard that vinegar will remove rust. It seems to be doing the trick and has been in there for a day or so. How long can I leave it in there or was this an awful idea to begin with? Thanks for any replies and advice.
