An old John Deere B at around 17 horse can do many times the work of a nice new riding lawn mower at the same horse. These old tractors have a ton of torque. They got the job done with little horse. A ten year old boy and a 20 year old man. They are going to change the tire on your truck. The man has a 12 inch long wrench and the boy has a 24 inch long wrench. Both can get the job done. The man had the horse with big arms and the boy had torque with the long wrench. The man also eats more than the boy, so a high horse motor eats a lot more fuel than a low horse high torque motor. So thats why Diesels have higher milage than gas.?.?.? just my 2 cents also.........
