I would be willing to bet that the yuppies that are involved are the yuppies that are from the area involved. Don't blame the Yankees for your problems. The Civil War was won/lost over a hundred years ago.
As far as that goes, about 50% of the men on both sides that were drafted, didn't go to war.
Of those who went, about 50% deserted at one time or another. Who are you desended from? My ancestors came over in the 1880's. I had nothing to do with slavery, stealing land, or the Holocaust. Get over it.
