don I am like the gatractorman in that i have never worked on a yanmar steering sector, but i have on a cub cadet 102,as it had a similar problem and it had a ball bearing on the tip of the worm gear to come apart, and also one at the top edge of the auger part of the worm gear where it leaves the gear box and enters the steering column, so i believe that he was right in his diagnosis. good luck
