Ryan, probably without meaning to, you have sounded very anti-Texas in your messages here. I don't think the state or location has anything at all to do with it. I'm not from anywhere near that state, so hopefully I'm not partial to this. :) You are kinda insulting a whole regoin here if you look back at your messages - that usually does not go over well, you are painting with a very broad brush. You may wish to clear that up a bit more than you have? :) There are a few million honest people in Texas, I think you are calling them all thieves with the title & some of your comments...

I think the problem is that you have made several (many?) deals on a handshake, and ran into 2 that did not turn out to your satisfaction at the same time. This has nothing to do with any state or location, and you probably shouldn't have implied a certain location had anything to do with it?

I think waiting over a year to pick the thing up was a bit negligent on your part so you can shoulder a bit of the blame here too, and you may have, but the anti-Texas thing kind of overshadows your other comments...

But I do understand that you were not treated fairly, the seller should have stated his policy to you at the sale, and should have followed up with a 30 day cut-off or some such before just selling the tractor again. Certainly you do have a gripe about that. Legally you should have gotten the resale money back.

I'm from Minnesota, and the law here also is that if something is sold & is not picked up for a year, it can be resold. If the owner happens along, they should get the money tho - I do understand that you were not treated right.

It's kinda like this: If you have some expensive looking packages sitting in plain view in your car, and they are stolen, and the police ask you if you locked the car & you say no - the police will ask you what the heck you were thinking? And probably won't work real hard to solve your case. Sure, no one _should_ steal your packages, but if you don't make an effort to safeguard your own property _at all_, well then what do you expect?

The guy shouldn't have screwed you, but you really have some responsibility to pick up your property in a reasonable amount of time, and blaming a whole state for 2 shiftless characters isn't right either.

If you only have 2 bad deals out of 85, I think you are doing very well. You will find at least 2 bad dealers here in Minnesota I'm sure. :)

Today's Featured Article - Product Review: JB Weld - by Staff. JB Weld is basically an epoxy glue that does an exceptionally good job of bonding to cast iron and steel along with several other materials. As I mentioned, it is so common that I have yet to buy a tractor that did not have JB Weld used somewhere. It is sometimes used so well you can't tell its there and other times used as a sloppy quick fix. Finding where and how it can be used correctly is key to whether you are using it as an "inelegant hack" or an integral solution to difficult and expens ... [Read Article]
