Stupid JD 50 questions

1.) It has been suggested (not on YT) that I put vinegar in the crankcase to loosen the pistons. Do you know if this works? 2.) The manual says that (in an engine that isn't stuck), the way to remove the pistons is out the front of the block with the block in place. Can (or why can't) the block (in an engine that isn't stuck) be pulled forward leaving the pistons connected to the crankshaft?
