Have you considered a pair of those headphones with a radio in them? I sure would be easier, probably cheaper and you would get some ear protection too. Years ago they had radio kits that could be mounted on tractors. They were big and fairly expensive, but they did work. A neighbor had one on the tractor he used the most for field work. You could always hear him playing the radio while running the tractor, because he played it LOUD to compete with the tractor sounds. I have never seen one in use since and have not noticed any for sale. I suspect that most people did not want to spend the money for a radio that was weather protected like the one he had. But at that time, there was no choice. Now there is.
