I'm assuming that the pasture your talking about can be tillable. A 8N or simular tractor will be on the small side for what you need to accomplish - plowing the pasture for planting. Pulling a plow through pasture ground takes a lot of lugging power and I think the 8N will be a little on the short size. You'll never get the implement penetration (depth) with an 8N and a plow or disc that you could get with something bigger. It's not the HP but the size of the back wheels and the weight of the tractor. My dad had an "M" and a 801 powwermaster - close in HP but the "M" would out pull it any day. Both great tractors. Another oprion would be to pay the farmer down the street to gome in with a big tractor for the first plowing then use the 8N. In previously tilled ground the 8N will probably do an ok job with a plow. If it dosen't the 8N is a great utility tractor and now you have an excuse to get another tractor.
