Thanks RickB for the extra info. I've had to update my view of what was going on within a hydraulic system like this one. This morning I made some paper spools so that I could play with the drawings in the service manual and see how the oil moves around. The power beyond port on the loader control valve does indeed blend the PB supply to the return of the loader when there is no aux system, and the port is plugged. If there is an aux system, then a "sleeve assembly" is screwed in where the plug was, which (appears to) force the PB supply out the line while at the same time blocking the connection between it and the return 'cavity'. So I just learned that a plug is not the same as a cap ! I couldn't (easily) remove the "sleeve assembly" so figure I could just cap the hose part instead. Well, tomorrow I get to reinstall the short-circuit hose until I get around to removing the assembly and installing the plug, which I just ordered. Luckily I haven't used the machine except to move it around a bit at low throttle so there shouldn't be any damage done. Paul
