I have a 6V positive ground Autolite generator that has a regulator box mounted on the generator casing. The regulator unit has two coil windings/point systems inside and it is a custom fit regulator for this generator. Two wires from the generator go directly into the bottom of the regulator (you don't see those wires unless you take the regulator off). The regulator has a single, small stubby fuse holder sticking out one side of the base (with a threaded hold-in cap) and also has a ceramic bar resistor that is externally attatched. The regulator has a single external wire attatchment tab. I've seen the 3-coil type regulators and the single winding relay boxes but never this 2-coil style. What is being controlled in this unit (assuming one of the windings is a relay to prevent battery discharge)? What is the fuse and the ceramic resistor for? And lastly, where does that external hook-up location wire up to in the electrical system?
