The 144 and 172 Ford diesels are known for running too cool for their own good. They were all fitted with 2 blade fans because the 3 and 4 blade fans cooled too well. Inspect or replace the thermostat, and or block a significant part of the radiator so you can get the tractor well up in the operating range of the temp gauge. Monitor it well at first to insure the temp gauge is reasonably accurate and you don't overheat it.
