Congratulations on getting a 641D! I enjoy mine and think it is a very useful and dependable tractor. My 641D smokes some too. Just the nature of the beast, I have always thought. Watch your engine oil level and quality. Working my tractor hard (plowing) has seemed to make it run better and a lot stronger. I occasionally get a chunk of glowing carbon or other gook from the muffler out of the exhaust. It is not something to worry about too much, but it can start dry grass on fire. I have had this happen twice and I have considered trying to fit some kind of spark screen when I am working the tractor hard in dry periods. As far as the temperature goes, your gauge may read cold. If you get a chance to do some hard work with the tractor during the warm months, I bet the needle will go higher on the scale. How does your tractor start cold? If you live anywhere that it gets cold at all, I suggest you add a lower radiator hose electric heater if it does not already have some kind of heater. It makes all the difference in the world in how the tractor starts cold. The glow plugs will allow my tractor to start OK down to about freezing, but it just will not start much lower than that without the heater. And heating the glow plugs and cranking a cold engine takes lots of battery power. I can plug in the heater and the tractor will start in 2 or 3 turns at 0 degrees F. (and will stay running if I have remembered to put additive in my diesel tank). Good luck with your 641D!

But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
